Stocking up

18Nov09

It’s been a bit of a sickly household here recently. Halloween brought me a delightful (ahem) cough and cold, so when I wasn’t dishing out sweeties to ghouls at the door, it was sofa time for me. Over the past few weeks, perpetually ill bionic-bun Pepper has been fighting off a nasty eye infection. After [...]

…and relax

30Sep09

It feels like we’re turning a corner here. Things got a bit hairy for a while with Pepper & George’s myxi – who are thankfully healing up nicely – and distinctly hairless with Dixie. Our little old lady of the bunch had surgery for a hernia in her belly, and while we all held our [...]

Hope

02Sep09

It’s been an emotionally draining couple of weeks, but Pepper is hanging in there – scabs and all. The snuffles have really hit her hard, so today the vet switched her treatment to penicillin injections. She’s so bunged up it was getting really difficult for her to take the syringed medication, so at least this [...]

The good news is that none of the pets are on Baytril at the moment – result! Naturally there is a downside to this, and it’s a pretty big one: Pepper has myxomatosis. Just seeing it typed out makes me feel queasy.
Last Tuesday I noticed her eyelid was a little swollen, so it was off [...]

Dust bunnies

01Feb09

Another month, another cold spell. Trying to beat the weather at its own game, I decided to clean out Pepper & George’s house this afternoon before the predicted snow fell. The weather won; but despite being barely able to feel my fingers, I managed to get a few quick snaps of the bunnies and hens [...]

Already?

01Dec08

Time has spanked me on the arse and whizzed past me on motorised rollerskates once more. So much for all the talk, I haven’t hunted out the Christmas cards – I’m busy coming to terms with the fact that 11 months have gone by so fast, and part of me is still waiting for summer [...]

Nana

27Oct08

It’s been a tough 24 hours. Lloyd’s nan died yesterday; she had been ill for a while, so whilst not wholly unexpected, it’s a sad shock all the same. She was the last of Lloyd’s grandparents, after his grandad died early on this year. We visited her a couple of weeks ago, and it was [...]

Slow burn

22Oct08

It’s apparent that I’m not feeling very bloggy at the moment, there’s a distinct lack of posting (and inspiration). In the end I amassed a total of 10 hats for The Big Knit – a bit disappointing, but the restarting-many-times problem really slowed me down! My hands are now, of course, itching to be kept [...]

Pay attention

16Sep08

Bad things:

People not reading things they should pay attention to and making you do things you don’t want to because you’re too damn polite for your own good.
We hit a rabbit with our van on the way home from the non-reading inattentive person, and I just couldn’t stop crying.
The garden centre up the road with [...]

The buns all got a long-awaited grooming session today; some endured/enjoyed it more than others. George in particular seemed to relish all the attention lavished on him, whereas Pepper just sat there and snorted at me. Bea got approximately half a ton of fur combed out of her behind, her claws were clipped without them [...]
