Fun week. Went to the theatre for the first time in… ever?..on thursday night - an adaptation of Edward Gorey’s ‘The Doubtful Guest’ tempted us out. It was an amusing and enjoyable performance, except now I’m itching to buy more of his books. Lloyd’s still toying with the idea of tattooing a Gashlycrumb somewhere on a spare piece of his flesh, but at the rate he’s going he’ll have to make do with a t-shirt.
We have a tradition in our house of betting on the Grand National - Lloyd sometimes bets on horses if the mood takes him, but it’s not something that usually grabs me, mainly cos I’m clueless - and it was that time again today. I choose my ponies by their names, then check the odds aren’t seemingly hopeless. This year it was in honour of the last company I worked for, and the weather on Easter saturday when my rabbit Clara died.
So whilst pounding away for a few extra minutes on the treadmill at the gym, it was with increasing (and disbelieving) excitement that I watched Comply Or Die and Snowy Morning not only make it over all the jumps, but win and come in third - yay!!
Having spent £8 on a few random choices and won nothing, Lloyd has been a gracious loser. And I’m just horrendously smug.
